Wagner Moura on stage in Barcelona

This week I had the privilege of seeing Wagner Moura perform "Um Julgamento" here in Barcelona, a play performed in a beautiful blend of Portuguese, Spanish and Catalan.

Besides feeling honoured to witness his extraordinary performance, I left feeling incredibly proud of Brazilian theatre and, once again, reminded of why I love this art form so deeply.

When we watch a play, it's easy to forget everything that happened before the curtain rose: months of rehearsals, research, physical and emotional preparation, countless creative decisions... All to tell a story that will only ever exist in that exact way, on that particular night. Theatre is one of the most demanding and generous art forms there is. It asks everything of the artists, and in return offers the audience something that can never be reproduced.

As someone who works in the performing arts, evenings like this remind me what a privilege it is to be part of this world.
